Created by Sega of America, Inc., this sports game app stars Sonic the Hedgehog and other characters of the popular series. In it, Dr. Eggman has taken over the city of Tokyo. Sonic and his friends can stop him by winning various Olympic events. The game comes with 15 Olympic events, which includes the newest sports added to Tokyo 2020. Sonic at the Olympic Games—Tokyo 2020 is free to download and initial events are free to play. However, in-app purchase is necessary to play the entire game.

Sonic at the Olympic Games—Tokyo 2020 lets you compete in a variety of Olympic events across a wide range of stages. Among the events that you can play are track and field games, badminton, diving, fencing, table tennis, and archery. The game will also give you a peek at the newest additions to the Olympic events, which are sport climbing and karate. On top of that, you can also put your skills to the test by playing fun mini-games. There will be six mini-games to choose from, so you will have plenty of games to play.

Aside from a plethora of events offered, the game also connects you to other players from across the world by offering a global leaderboard. Sonic at the Olympic Games—Tokyo 2020 allows you to choose from 16 playable characters—including Sonic the Hedgehog himself. However, the events are locked at the beginning of the game. You need to play through the story to unlock the Olympic events. Moreover, the game only comes with a single-player mode.
